Gooey Butter Cake

Well, this afternoon, I decided to make some gooey butter cake...sooo delicious.

HOWEVER, I pulled a block of cream cheese out of the fridge (The very back) and dumped it in my bowl. Some of it got on my finger, so I licked it obviously. NOT OKAY! haha the cream cheese was oldddd, like February 26 old, how it stayed in our fridge so long, I do not know.

All I know, is YUCK!

A lesson for everyone: CHECK DATES PEOPLE!

haha, :)

Sweet Summertime!

Well, I have finished with another year of school, and am now officially a Senior in college! YIIIKES!! But, at the same time, I'm very excited for what the future holds.

To continue with the news of my last post, the Delts named their new sweetheart: ME! It's a Greek tradition, but something that I was very excited to get.

Other big things have been happening as well. I taught my first official lesson in a real classroom, and I am proud to say that it went very well! I had to teach an Honors class a lesson about the Renaissance. It was fun, and I think the kids enjoyed it. The teacher liked it so much that he continued to use the activity that I did in the rest of his classes! Pretty cool, huh?!

After that, it was down to finals and moving back home. Luckily for me, I didn't end up having to sit for any of my finals! :) Yippee.

But, sadly, all three of my roomies graduated a few days later and they are all off in the big kid world. Now, I'm at home, working at Kohl's until June when I leave for Pennsylvania!! Trying to prepare now with finding recipes and things, so wish me luck! :)

Also, musically I'm really enjoying John Mayer's Battle Studies album.

Later gators!

Discussions On Travel Channel

So, my roommates and I have a somewhat regular tradition (depends on our daily schedules) of watching the Travel Channel during our lunch hour. We watch Samantha Brown and Anthony Bourdain. We have decided that we would love to have Samantha Brown's job, but not Anthony Bourdain's, because he eats yucky food.

Not too much out of the ordinary has been going on here. I picked my classes for next semester-first semester of senior year- YIKES!...it will be a tough semester, but doable.

In my Austen and the Bronte's class, we are reading Wuthering Heights and so far it seems to be more interesting than a couple of the other books we have read in class.

Other than that, just counting down until summer! We have the Delta Queen formal this weekend, where they will announce their new sweetheart. Should be pretty fun!

TTFN!

Return from Spring Break!

Hey everyone! I have just returned from my Spring Break trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama, and can I just say that it was amazing! We had such a great time!

We spent a lot of time at our beach house just hanging out with each other all week long. I spent a lot of time making use of the hot tub and spa amenitites that our resort had to offer, but we also spent a lot of time on the beach and playing volleyball. It was a blast.

I went out to eat three time while in Gulf Shores, and had a couple of really great experiences, and one not so good at all. The first night we went to a beachside restaurant that had been recommended by other people on our resort. It was awful. Extremely overpriced food that definitely was not worth what you paid in any way, shape, or form. We learned our lesson pretty quick!!

The second night we went out for pizza and it was the best pizza I have ever had in a restaurant. It was a local place called Papa Rocco's. If you ever go to Gulf Shores, I would put this on your list of places to visit! The pizza was so good and it was cheap, $10 for a large! They had a great local atmosphere too, they were very open to spring breakers, but you could tell it was a local joint. They had live entertainment that was great too. Go there if you can!

Our last night in Gulf Shores a group of us went to Lulu's, which is Jimmy Buffett's sister's restaurant. It was a ton of fun too. It had an atmosphere very similar to Margaritaville, but this had a huge outdoor section with picnic tables, volleyball courts, and everything. It was awesome. And of course I had a Cheeseburger in Paradise there...sooo good.

We had a great time!!

I'm Back!

Gosh, it's been a while! I didn't realize how long it has been since I've blogged. Whoops!

Nothing too exciting has been happening here. Preparing for my Spring Break next week! Gulf Shores-woo hoo! I'm very excited. Unfortunately for me though, teachers feel that before breaks they should always schedule more homework. Luckily, I don't have much after I get back from Spring Break which helps.

Wish I could stay and chat, but unfortunately I have a test to study for and a presentation to prepare for...all by tomorrow, along with working tonight.

Lovely weather.

Employment!

Well, I was pretty productive these past week and a half and I've secured a summer job! I will be a camp counselor in Pennsylvania for 7 weeks, teaching cooking. I'm really excited about it. It's one of those parent trap-style camps, which I've never been to. Except the one I'll be at has an ice skating rink...yes, an ice skating rink at a summer camp. If anyone knows of any good recipe websites let me know because I'm sure I'll be on the lookout for good recipes!

Not much other news, I've just been studying like crazy the past couple of weeks. It seems like it will never end. But, I like my classes so I guess that makes it a little easier. Right now I'm taking a break from studying for my American Revolution test that I have next Tuesday. Hopefully I can ace this one!

Little Cars Don't Like Snow

Well, my weekend was ended with an almost-bang. I went into work last night knowing that it was probably going to snow...but not expecting that it was going to cover the highway completely while I was working my 3 1/2 hour shift!! After work I made the journey ever so cautiously as I could back to school. However, I did have a very narrow miss along the way. As I said, the roads were completely covered, and I drive a Honda Civic. The cars in front of me were exiting and they were braking, unfortunately, my car wouldn't stop. I had to swerve to the left in order to avoid rear-ending the car in front of me! Well, when I swerved, my car fish tailed and I started sliding all over. Luckily, one of th connectors was right there between the two dual lanes, so I ended up on that rather than in the ditch! So lucky!

Other than that, I had a nice weekend at home. Watched the Olympics and had some much needed time with family. I also went and saw Valentine's Day with my sisters and we went to McDonald's for sundaes afterwards. It was fun!

Lots of homework this week so wish me luck!

Just Another Wednesday

Well, I've got kind of a long night ahead of me. 3 papers to write, and 2 articles to read. Ugh. Luckily, they are all short papers. I've also got to meet with my psychology group and we have to develop the ethics forms for our group's experiment.

I have to write an response/analysis paper for Northanger Abbey in my Jane Austen class. I liked it a lot better than Emma, thank goodness! I'm not sure what I'm going to write my paper about though.

In other news, I think I've developed a cold. Yucky. It's one of those where you have to blow your nose so much that your poor nose gets chapped. Boo. Oh well. I also stumbled across a recipe last night for cinnamon doughnut muffins. If that doesn't sound good, I don't know what does. Maybe I'll try making them this weekend when I'm home.

Yup, I did decided to head home this weekend. So tomorrow night after my night class gets out I will be heading home. Tomorrow night, I'm hoping to get a little homework done (we'll see how that works out.) Then on Friday morning I have a funeral to go to, and after that I think my sisters and I will be going to see the movie Valentine's Day that night. Then on Saturday I think we'll be going Prom dress shopping for my younger sister. Then on Sunday I have to work that evening and then head back up to school. Hopefully, during all this madness I will find time to study and get ahead on homework!

Have a happy hump day!

Productivity Is Wonderful!!

I am actually ahead on my homework load. Who can believe it?! Not me. I woke up early this morning and worked on homework before my roommates all woke up, so the apartment was still quiet. I also made cinnamon rolls for breakfast and pigs in the blanket for lunch. Yum!

The week ahead doesn't look very busy, thank goodness. I don't have class on Friday, so I'll probably head home Thursday night for the three day weekend. I need a weekend to relax.

Not too much other news, I don't have much time to discover new things or enough money to go shopping or anything like that, since I paid for my Spring Break trip.

A group of about 15 or so of us are driving down to Gulf Shores, AL, for about 5 days. We have a beach house all rented for about $120 a piece. Not too shabby. And we are all splitting the cost of gas and we're buying food in bulk from Sam's before we go and eating cheap. Should be lots of fun!

Ta-ta for now!

Blech

Well, so much has happened since the last post. Hardly any good either. Boo.

Had a huge falling out with a friend...not something easily bounced back from either.

While that seems to have taken up a lot of my thinking this past week, especially the past few days, I have been very productive in school. I wrote 4 papers in 5 hours tonight. Pretty, productive huh?

In my Jane Austen class, we have finished Emma, and are moving on to Northanger Abbey, it's short so I might like it better! Haha. I've actually debated whether I should download an audio version to listen to while I read. I've heard that helps with comprehension.

I should be getting my placement for my Practicum soon too. I may actually get placed in an English class, which I think will be good since I had a methods class in Social Studies, and not English.

Also, I'm going to try to get into contact with a few schools about teaching summer school. Wish me luck!

That's about the end of my news, it's been a rough week. BUT, this morning I found a quote that has inspired a lot of optimism: "When we wish for a life free from difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong under contrary winds and diamonds are made from pressure."

One of Those Weeks

Well, it's just been one of those weeks, and it's only Tuesday!! Yikes. Yesterday was just a bad day in general, and then at work I had to be a cashier! We were so slow that I think I had about 20 customers in 5 hours. Considering that it took about 2 minutes on average, we're talking about a slow night! But luckily we did get out right on time, so I could rush home to do...homework!

So, I spent about an hour and half reading last night after I got home, only to discover this morning that my teacher had cancelled class. Even though I'm glad to be caught up, I would have like to catch a few more zzz's. I haven't been sleeping too well as of late. Then I tried to do reading for my other class when I figured out that I am missing one of the books I need for this semester! Whoops. Luckily, I have a few more days to get that before we have to read out of that book again, and there are plenty of people that I can borrow another one from.

Finally today, I don't have very much homework, just taking notes for Peer Teaching for my class at 2 tomorrow. So, I think I'll watch the winter premiere of Greek on Hulu.com tonight, since I missed it last night because of work.

Hopefully this week starts looking up soon! Wish me luck!

New Semester

Well, the new semester has finally begun. Joy. I think my classes will be enjoyable but hard. I'm taking The American Revolution, Jane Austen and the Brontes, Reading In the Content Area, Practicum II, Counseling Theories and Methods, Methods in Experimental Psychology, annnd Walk/Jog for Fitness. Personally I feel that walk/jog is going to be intense. I may not survive.

Speaking of exercising, my roommate DB found a really fun one. It's Cardio Ballroom with Julianne...it's pretty fun actually. I'm not really coordinated enough for it to really look like I'm doing the cha cha, but I feel that any exercise is a step forward.

I made tacos for dinner tonight. They were pretty good, except that Mexican food is so darn piddly. I feel like you need 8000 spoons and bowls for everything that you need. Oh well, at least it'll last me for about 4 meals.

Another great thing that we are doing in my apartment is we are making a wall called the "Wish Wall"..All last semester one of the walls in our living room was bare because we couldn't figure out what we wanted to put on it. Well, now when we find things in magazines that we want, we tear them out and put them on the wall. So far, we have engagement rings that are supposed to match our astrological sign, wedding dresses, and I'm putting the really pretty pictures from my tear of calendar of Italy in a collage. Can you guess that we may watch a lot of wedding shows?
