Just Call Me Betty Crocker

Well, we have NO breakfast food or desserts in the house. Supposedly, this is because I eat too much....oh well. At least I'm willing to rectify the situation. Ha!

So, today I made some muffins from a mix so everyone can eat them for breakfast tomorrow. Banana Nut. Nummy! AND THEN, I got bored this afternoon, so I made a yellow cake, also out of a mix. This wasn't very ambitious I know, but they both turned out really well.

All these days off of work with nothing to do almost make me want homework or something....almost.

Well, I spent the latter part of the evening tonight taking notes, yes, taking notes. I'm taking a class this semester over the Vietnam Wars. Unfortunately, towards the end of this past semester I recieved an email from the professor stating that before the FIRST day of class this fall we had to read and take extensive notes over pages 1-306 of one of the books. YUCK!...Anyway, I have progressed to page 98 as of now....making small progress. Despite this, I think this class will be cool, even though it's hard, because the teacher actually fought on the front lines in Vietnam. Cool.

Also, since I've recently entered the blogging world, I've been reading other blogs a lot. And I found the old blog of the Julie/Julia project! Neat, huh?! It's really funny, and now I really want to see that movie.

Hello!

Well, it's official. 3 weeks from today I will be moving back to the thriving metropolis of Fultron. Haha.

I'm excited.

Other than that, pretty boring, still. Just been working. Right now I'm watching the Flintstones on Boomerang and waiting for my pizza to cook.

Friday!

Well, I've actually had a pretty productive Friday. First of all, I've been working on getting my "college stuff" back into order so I can move back ....in 23 days. Haha. I guess I'm pretty anxious to get back up there. But, this takes a lot of work! Eek! Especially since I have a bunch of newer stuff since I will be moving into an apartment this year rather than a dorm room...wahoo!! Very excited about that. I will also have a king sized bed! wahoo wahoo!! All very exciting.

I completely finished up my online class and have already posted my textbook on half.com hoping to sell it back....

AND THEN, I went into the bank to try to get my checkbook straightened out. Somehow I had gotten to be like $200 off. Oops. It's all back in order now, thank goodness.

Then I came home and made a cherry pie. Homemade crust, too. Go me.

Have to work tonight, a 4 hour shift, seems kind of like a waste, but oh well.

Finals!

So, today I'm finally finishing up an online psych class that I've been taking for the past 8 weeks. Not fun. I don't like online classes, I've decided. I don't like not having a lecture to go to. Oh well, at least this is probably/hopefully the only one I'll ever have to take. Anyhow, I'm studying for the final right now, which is definitely the hardest part of classes for me. I am NOT a good test taker, or maybe I'm just not a good studier, I'm not completely sure. Wish me luck!

After that, me and my Mom and my sister M are going for our annual school shopping trip. One of my favorite traditions ever! Call me a nerd, if you will. I just like it. I like all the things that go along with school, maybe that's why I'm going into Education? Part of the reason, anyway. I really like summer vacations too.

New Layout!

With some help from my sister, my blog is now much prettier! I love the sparkles!

In other news, had a nice day off of work today, head back tomorrow. I've had a nice 5 day long break...too bad all/most great things like that end. Oh well, I don't mind my job. I work at Kohl's as a Sales Floor Associate. Just a summer job, although I will keep it for a couple of days a week to help with expenses. I've been budgeting my money all summer trying to make sure I don't run out of money for necessities during the year, since I will be working less hours and living away from home. I'm also trying to pay off my debt to my parents for a trip I took to Disney World for Spring Break last semester. All things considered, I got a very good deal on that. All I had to pay for on the whole trip was my plane ticket to Orlando. One of my friends from school had some roundabout connections with a person who works in Disney World, so we got free tickets into all the parks! Awesome! I had never been when I was younger, so this was just awesome for me. Anyhow, enough about that....the rest of my budget book consists of budgeting for my utility bill in my on campus apartment, books, car insurance, online class, and of course, my MAD MONEY!! WHOPEE!! Unfortunately, my mad money account is completely zapped at the moment because of a impulse online shopping trip to Forever 21...C'mon, you get free shipping if you spend $75...plus I really like their stuff.

Guess that's the Material Girl (haha) in me coming out.

Ba-da-bing!

Now I'm watching Night at the Museum while trying to talk myself into exercising OR study for a final....which will win? Probably the crunches...hopefully the endorphins will kick in and I'll feel compelled to study. Wish me luck.

Monday Munchies

So, I kind of took this off of my sister's blog (Speedy Reader 3-Turning Pages)...she does Friday favorite fives. I'll do Monday munchies. Partly because, well, it's Monday, and partly because I like food....So I think I'll start this blog off with a nice my Three Favorite Veggies...sounds good to me...

1. Green Beans - personally, I just like the way they taste....Do I really need another reason? Although, I have to say, I only like canned green beans. I'm not a fan of the crispy steamed kind.

2. Corn- Corn on the cob moreso....I just like it because I associate it with summer and BBQ's. Two of my favorite things!

3. Tomatoes....yes, yes I know...tomatoes are fruit, technically, but I think of them as vegetables, and seeing as how I'm making this list, this it what I pick. I tend to like them a lot more in the summertime, maybe it's because of the freshness? And we grow our own, which I think makes them better.

Just Beginning

I've been reading a few blogs regularly now, and have decided to join the blogging atmosphere. The title of my blog "Growing Pains" basically signifies that I am halfway through college and trying to prepare myself for the real world as much as possible. I'm terrified of being clueless. However, I have motivation problems! Haha. As much as I would like to make the best decisions, I generally tend to fall short.

Main Issues

1. Grades- I went from having over a 4.0 in high school to barely maintaining mediocre grades in college. I go to a higher level private school. Motivation is the key here, and I am sorely lacking!

2. Money- I am too material and like to shop too much, plain and simple.

3. Being 'grown up' -Self explanatory

More to follow?

More about me, though. I am currently getting ready to begin my third year of college. I am a Secondary Education, emphasis in Social Studies, and am working towards minors in History, English, and Psychology. My ultimate goal is to become a High School Guidance Counselor. I am slightly involved on campus, but I really don't enjoy positions of authority so I'm not a so-called leader on campus. I am what could be considered a "frat rat". However, my boys (ha) are not the stereotypical frat boys, overall, they obtain the highest grades on campus. The boy I am kind of seeing (who really wants to get into that?) is a member of this fraternity. He's a Biochemistry major and hopes to go to dental school. He's a nice, truly good guy. Rare, I know! I have two sisters, the oldest, K, is getting married in October, and the youngest, M, is almost a Junior in High School. My mom works at a bank and my dad works for the state highway department. I don't like cats. Or animals in general, excepting dogs. I could have a pet fish, I think. The closest thing I have to my own pet now is a cactus. It's surviving well, which I feel is positive. I'll probably write more in about 5 minutes on a specific topic, but for now, I'm exploring.
